Town Activities

From Harvest to Halloween in Napa Valley

(NAPA VALLEY, CA) — It may be a ghoulish welcome mat, but the towns of Yountville, Napa and Calistoga all enjoy a good treat – and if those come with a few tricks, then so be it. This month’s activities – mainly aimed at the school-age set – range from month long displays of amazing decorations meant to scare the wits out of you (okay, maybe not your wits), to parades, and trick-or-treating among the merchants.

Napa
Napa’s Hometown Halloween Parade is the kick off event to an evening of trick or treating among the downtown merchants. Children of all ages can either dress up and participate in the parade, or pick a ring side seat on the street and watch the apparitions pass by. The third annual event will be held on Saturday, October 28.

Like last year, the parade will be led by Star Wars characters riding Segways. After the parade, many of the downtown merchants along First Street and in the Napa Town Center will be offering sweets for the trick-or-treaters. Merchants participating in the trick or treating will have black and orange balloons outside of their businesses.

The parade is free and no registration is required. The parade begins at 4 p.m. and ends at the Napa Town Center. Trick or Treating begins at 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (707) 257.0322

Yountville
It might be hard to believe, but the quaint town of Yountville has a darker side. Or at least the artists and merchants of Vintage 1870 do. From October 4th through October 31st original decorations and haunting displays featuring giant ghosts, frightening hallway ghouls and more menace the town. This year’s must see ghoulish displays were “brought back from the dead” by Sue Payne of Art of Illusion.

Vintage 1870, a historic retail complex is open daily from 10:00am – 5:30pm.  Vintage 1870 is located on the Vintage Estate at 6525 Washington Street in Yountville, CA

Calistoga
The city of Calistoga’s recreation and community services department has teamed up with Calistoga School’s Safe Kids program to put together a bewitching two days for those of a youthful nature.

A haunted house, horse-drawn ghost tour, palm reader, and other frights are ready to entertain and scare. October 28 and 29, the event is open to kids 12 & under and their families. Monhoff Center, Corner of Stevenson & Grant, Calistoga, CA. Small fees.
