Health conscious travelers have flocked to Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort since 1952. In view of the fact that one can enjoy spacious lodging, three pools, and "The Works" for as little as $149.99 per person, the resort is more popular than ever. In addition to "The Works", which includes a mud bath, mineral water whirlpool bath, blanket wrap, steam room, and massage, the Dr. Wilkinson's bathhouse offers facials and skin care treatments. Co-owners Mark Wilkinson and Carolynne Wilkinson Clair are currently refreshing their mid century resort. They have renovated the property's charming five-bedroom Victorian, and upgraded gardens and patios with new furnishings. They are renovating the resort's original building, utilizing clean simple lines that echo classic mid-century modern design. "We appreciate the philosophy, 'form is function'," Mark emphasizes. "Our parents founded the resort to renew body and spirit in a direct, fundamental, sincere and cost effective manner. As famous mid-century designers influenced the way people relate to their physical environments, Dr. Wilkinson's created a lifestyle for living simply, naturally, and organically, while maintaining a reverence for living well." Like mid-century modern design, Dr. Wilkinson's is a classic. The late Dr. John Wilkinson, a chiropractor with a passion for alternative, holistic health care, and his wife Edy, made Calistoga's naturally hot mineral water and volcanic ash mud baths world famous.
The resort's original neon sign still glows above Calistoga's picturesque main street announcing the wine country landmark and Dean of Napa Valley spas to all who arrive.
