VISITING US Sequoia Grove’s Tasting Room, in operation since 1979, is open everyday (except Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day) from 10:30 to 5:00. No appointment is necessary to sample our current releases, our winery only wines, or to purchase our library wines and array of Napa based products. A dozen massive puncheons (upright wooden casks) dominate the room. Each puncheon was made in France and assembled here in 1981. Each is a different size as each was built to hold a specific lot of wine. Luckily, none our puncheons were damaged in 2003 when one of our Sequoia trees was struck by lightening and crashed through the Tasting Room roof. Jim Allen’s Model-T Ford, however, didn’t fair quite so well as it was crushed by one of the falling branches. Always looking for the silver lining and being thrifty, we salvaged the wood from the fallen Sequoia to make redwood presentation boxes; and filled the hole in the roof with a stained glass window to let in a little more light. We offer two Tasting Flights: our Current Release Tasting ($10), and our Premium Release Tasting ($15). We also offer two "Tour and Tasting" options: The "Semper viren tour and Tasting", and the "Group Tour and Tasting." Wines served are our current releases and a barrel sample: Semper Viren Tour and Tasting $30 per person The tour begins in our Rutherford Estate Vineyard. It then proceeds through various areas of harvest and production, while reflecting upon the one hundred year old majestic sequoia trees that inspire our traditions and retain our heritage. Later, a premium tasting complements the journey in our Historic Private Cask Room. Tours commence daily at 12:00 and 2:00, and are limited to ten people. Group Tour and Tasting $35 per person Larger groups of ten to twenty can also enjoy a private Sequoia Grove tour and historic private Cask Room tasting. Reservations are required no later than twenty four hours in advance. Link to MapQuest: www.mapquest.com
