Since
1986, Shari Staglin, her husband Garen, and their children Brandon and Shannon
have been producing limited quantities of wine from their estate, and have
established their vineyard as one of the most critically acclaimed in Napa
Valley. With severe thinning and organic farming, the Staglins work hard
to produce world-class wines while giving back to the land.
The micro-climate of the Staglin property, nestled against the
slope of the tallest mountain in the Mayacamas range, Mt. St. John,
and the unique gravelly loam soil with its excellent drainage,
gives the Staglin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese an intensity
and character that is distinctive. Their Chardonnay grows in soil
with a higher clay content, and cooler micro-climate, producing
a wine with high acidity and great aging potential. Their 2002
Estate Chardonnay was chosen by the Wine Spectator as the top dry
white wine in the world with a rating of 94 points.
