VISITING US

The chateau looks much the same as it did when it was constructed in 1880. Although the equipment is pure 21st century, Estate wines are crushed and fermented where the original winery stood in the chateau, and aged in caves below the property. The original sandstone walls and European styling give the elegantly appointed tasting rooms warmth and allure.

There is a $25 Guest Fee to visit Rubicon Estate, which includes a tasting of five Estate wines, access to the historic Chateau, the Estate Wine Library, the Centennial Museum, its exhibits and complimentary valet parking. The guest fee is waived for Rubicon Estate Wine Club members, Napa Valley residents with proof of residency and any guest under 21 years of age when accompanied by an adult.

Additionally, Rubicon Estate offers an array of tours and tastings, some historical, others more hands-on and interactive. From guided walks through the vineyard to barrel sample tasting in the cellar, the tour guides are experts at creating dynamic wine experiences for all guests.

Legacy
Uncover the origins of the Estate while exploring the Chateau, museum, and Rubicon Winery. This tour concludes with a private wine tasting.

Duration: 30 minutes. This tour is limited to 16 persons on a first-come first-served basis. Conducted daily at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

Vinifera
This journey begins where wine begins... in the vineyard. Discover the unique climate and geology of Rutherford and learn what makes the soils of this appellation world famous. This tour concludes with a private wine tasting on the knoll where you will enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. St. John.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes. This tour is limited to 12 persons on a first-come first-served basis. Conducted daily at 11:00am. $15 per person.

Sensory Exploration
Ninety percent of what we taste is based on our sense of smell. After a tour through the cellar, evaluate wines by learning how to identify the flavors and aromas in red and white wines. Participate in a sensory exercise in which the scents of natural elements, such as fruits and spices, are compared against the aromas in selected wines.

Duration: 1 hour. This tour is limited to 8 persons. Conducted daily at 10:00am. Reservations required.

Elevage
The nurturing of a wine from fermentation to bottling is detailed in this extensive enological tour, which includes a first-hand look at winemaking techniques. Your guide will explain the various steps of production from crush to fermentation and aging, as well as cellar procedures used at the Rubicon Winery. Visit the immense underground cave and sample future releases from the barrel.

Duration: 2 hours. This tour is limited to 8 persons. Conducted daily at 1:00pm. Reservations required.$35 per person.
